Southwest Baptist Church was born on July 6, 1921. The church had twenty-seven members on it's first Sunday of worship. Members first worshipped in a small frame building that was located on the site of the present worship facility. A second, and more permanent worship center was dedicated in 1926, and stood on the lot east of the present facility.

The church's present plan is composed of a three story education building, the sanctuary, a large hall located beneath the sanctuary which is appropriately referred to as Fellowship Hall, and a small hall located to the east of the church that is referred to as Memorial Hall. The existing church plan was started in 1954 and completed in 1968.

Southwest Baptist Church is a caring church committed to reaching people for Christ, promoting discipleship for those on the Christian journey, and guiding those growing in their faith.
